      I don't think the incentive has to be material gain in the narrow sense it's currently defined. People in my experience don't like being idle, if you show them opportunities to improve themselves and the opportunites aren't going to get in the way of their slave wage job, people are generally interested in taking up these opportunities. I think the system should be geared to allowing people the most freedom possible to engage in self improvement and their communities improvement in whatever way they see best.

        IMO you are stretching the meaning of greed. Did the men and women mentioned have desires? Of course they did. Are desires a bad thing? I can't think of any person who does not have desires of some kind. The idea is to observe your ego is at the moment something interferes with IT'S desire.
