    Re: Stroupe on the $

Bernanke has already admitted the problem where printing is causing more people to abandon Treasuries as a safe haven for their money. That is why he has told Congress to get off its a..e and get the deficits under control.
If he tries printing more then it is possible he would become the whole market. It would become a Zimbabwean type scenario with a collapsing dollar and hyper-inflation. (just my observation of course...chew it how you like)
IMHO Helicopter Ben sounds like he has had something of an Epiphany of late. I think the rise in the long end of the yield curve has really disturbed him.

I don't know how old you are Southern and I'm in Australia, so there might be some minor differences, but I can tell you trying to run a business under any serious inflation is a nightmare. In high or Hyper- inflation it would just be totally impossible.

In addition you have a terrible dislocation of your society, its mores and values.

The subsequent attempt to rein in inflation will cause more deflationary damage than the sort of deflation that some fear at the moment. Inflation DOES NOT FIX ANYTHING. It just postpones the problems down the road a bit and MAGNIFIES them.

well, THAT was good for a 2% gain so far...

The 10 year is now trading roughly 4%.

For the first time I haven't traded it. I think of it now as a "core holding." Along with CEF. How crazy is that:eek:

do you have the red light cameras? One moment of inattention costs you $100.00. I did not come to a complete stop, before turning right on red last month. This was an intersetion bounded by corn field. I could see a mile in each direction, video clearly shows no other cars. Nice.

I drive by instinct. Been driving for over 30 years in an urban area. Never had an accident. Now I have to worry more about the letter of the law than the spirt of law.

I think I see a business opportunity. A whole new accounting system will be required to adjust prices twice a day and pay wages once a day.
