Re: U.S. Inflation to Approach Zimbabwe Level, Faber Says

That comment by Faber really surprised me. I think he is a good market observer and one of the best at picking up short-term trends, but USA approaching Zimb? Sorry, if I have to choose between being scared to death (because I used to trust Faber), or conclude he is losing his credibility (at least with me), I will go with loss of credibility. My faith in Faber just got cut in half, if not more. He is no longer on my top 5 trusted list (EJ has the #1 spot).

that's what i mean... you nailed it. he's turning celente on us.

that happens when you make doom predictions , then get heaps of press attention when the shit hits the fan , then the tv people stop calling you 'cause flying shit ain't news anymore , so... crank it up!:eek::eek: make more and more dire and drastic predictions :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:. cnbc/fox/bloomberg keeps coming back for more tape of celente & faber... until they run outa new material like peter schiff.

While I generally remain hush on the topic of economics due to my inexperience with the subject, I do feel inclined to comment on this piece. While Faber has some laudable credentials, this particular remark of his has cast his plausibility as a market forecaster into doubt. It is a very bold claim seemingly made more for bombast than for market clarity. While I cannot dismiss it, especially in light of the inane maneuvers on part of the government, it is not something I am going to muse over in the night.

Well said, and after hearing the clip I think he was just being bombastic.
Nevertheless, even EJ has entertained the hyper scenario.

Make sure you cut and paste the entire line of embed code bracketed by the object tags.

                        Thank you, sir!

I am not very familiar with the mechanics of hyperinflation. I only understand the rudiments of how it manifests itself. I can only imagine that at some point, if the government does not reverse course, that inflation will slip into positive feedback mode. In the event of that occurring, hyperinflation will be a definite reality.

The question, I suppose, is what the trigger will be for that positive feedback event. Will it gradually occur or will it suddenly occur without much warning? Right now, I feel like I am a crash test dummy hurtling 100 mph towards a wall; however, I am not an inanimate doll and this is not some method of calibrating the economy for future impacts.

Show business has infected everything and everybody.

Our government has gone from being a drama series (Reagan and prior) to a comedy series (Clintoon) to a dark comedy (George W. Dumbass) and is now moving from that into a straight horror film.

Ouch -- one knows one is a geek when one reads the code as quickly as one reads the picture of that singer.
