    I figured as such, the MCD thing was just an attempt at humor.
    After all MCD is still making money and can service their debt out of cash flow. Unlike the USTreas. Which services their debt by rolling it over.

      Wouldn't you rather own MSFT bonds than Treasuries? I think they're good for it.

        ms is backed by a software monopoly. the usa by a military monopoly. tough call.

          Some equipment in the USA military monopoly depends on Microsoft software. Microsoft doesn't depend on the USA military. Easy call ;).

                yes, I agree, and would expect to see a closing of ranks reflective of national borders. Perhaps though the world is not as clear as we have been led to perceive (caution: paranoia alert).
                I think the govs that matter are run by rational folks who will do what is in their short term self interest - and this is not the same thing as what may be in their nations self-interest.

                I would be amazed but not surprised shoudl a global coordinated reponse be actualized and effective.
