Oh, Yes our top poiticals could do no wrong.........so long as house prices kept rocketing up..............but suddenly last year "Huston, we have a problem".

Now Mr & Mrs BRIT-Arse have suddenly awoke, they suddenly find that they don't have the wedge to buy that NEW BMW, the new Flat screen tv.....er nope.........can't raise the credit.

It gets worse, not only are they not getting NEW toys, the old ones are being taken back. Repo cars/homes are every where, i have ZERO time for these people...........they didn't attend the Stop the War Rally, they just got on with their lives while large numbers of people whom didn't do any harm to them...lost theirs

Bussiness ZERO, Zip nothing.......same for the other engineers about me. Strangly i had to replace my front tyres on my vRS Turbo today & i went to the tyre place.

Massive reduction on tyre prices, i paid what i paid 9 years ago!
i was the ONLY trade he had all day!

Also told me:-

People ringing up looking for Part Worn tyres.

People coming in with worn out tyres but refuse to replace them.

BMW & Merc owners replacing high spec Western brand tyres (Dunlop/Good year etc) with NASTY crappy Tyres from China.

What village did we destroy? Could you clarify?

It may be their "sand" but it is most certainly not "our" oil. After all, we are still paying full retail for it, right?

if you ask the oil producing Arabs, you will find they are enormously pleased with the outcome of the Iraq War. The Kuwaiti's lived under the tender mercies of Saddam for just a few short months back in 1990 and when liberated, were kissing American flags.

The Arabs in the region breathed a big sigh of relief once Saddam was gone once and for all. Trust me.

As for the Iranians, the Arabs see the same sort of threat on their door step and have no problem with western military presence in the back yard protecting them from Iran.

Interesting to note, that as President Obama is winding down US presence in Iraq he is setting up the Turks to fill in the vacuum to block Iran. In a redux of the Ottoman Empire, Turkey may very well likely play geopolitical counterbalance to Iran. The more things change, eh?

Hard to believe, I know, but the mideast is an enormously more stable and peaceful place than it was 10 years ago. Seriously, think about it.

These 'educated' idiots have destroyed our economy while the sheeple drooled over their t.v. dinners. Your Brittish representative Daniel Hannan understands our constitutional principles better than 95% of Americans and then I get to hear people talk about how we've given them 'democracy' and 'rule of law'. I always thought that universities were supposed to train people to think independently and should try to show criticism when analysing any opinions, instead of blindly following any opinion or dogma.

I guess these days have gone and now you get many courses (business university?) where the goal is to decept people e.g. how to sell your idea to others as a manager, or how to trick consumers into buying things they don't need.

I'm so sorry to bring this up but history (a very good guide to the future) tell's me that Afganistan has never, is never, and will never be conquered.
This is one nation that will give you heartburn if you try to digest it. Tough as dried leather ,harder than diamond. The word "bring it on" come to mind. Remember recently that the Russians (who are also hard as nails and not as stupid as the media make out) got burnt. China also, Genghis Kahn,called them the thorn in his shoe. Leave them in peace and they just have tribal wars as they have done for decades past. Step on their soil as an outsider and you have a swarm a bees from all clans.

Yep, I'm currently reading Winston Churchill's "The Malakand Field Force" about Britain's struggles to maintain empire in that region. Can't help but think of the US involvement today when I read those accounts.
