Is SGS just U6 + k? Every little ripple of u6 is in SGS. the SGS curve is just shifted up by about 3.5%; There is an upward drift of SGS over the entire curve.

The SGS numbers are U-6 corrected back to the pre-Clinton era. See:

Somewhere in the MSM I read there was new govt. hiring of 63,000 temporary census workers - add that back and you are over 600,000 again.

Yes, and don't forget the birth/death adjustment of 60,000, and the fact that the 90% confidence interval as stated by BLS is +/- 100,000 jobs.

The path to itulip's prediction of 20% U-3 is starting to become clear. I think many employers have delayed making any serious layoffs yet, under the assumption that this is yet another recession, and that the economy will recover by the end of the year. When the fact that it's a depression and not a recession starts to sink in later this year, not only will the layoffs increase, but lots of companies will have waited too long to take action and will go bankrupt as a result.

I don't understand. How can a broke A/A empire make any move? If it's true that Japan, Arabia, and China for separate but overlapping national interest are supporting the US 'war on terror' with 'war bond' financing knowing that if China decides not to support that financing anymore doesn't the A/A empire go 'Boom'?

If SHTF does Saudi Arabia care if it's the Chinese or A/A empire that militarily props up its regime?
Does China really want the US to stop exporting jobs to it and break the elite to elite business club? If they are willing to risk that bond then pulling the plug on the dollar outta take care of any issue in that area shouldn't it? Or is the US following China's lead to allow it to care of the guns and then both share in the butter? Is there a real conflict here or just a shadow game?

All these stats say is that as a society, we are getting wealthy and richer.

Seriously ... all these tech advances. Does it really make sense that we work like we used to? The fact is, all the wealth in society makes it so fewer people have to actually work.

The high unemployment rate is not bad news. In fact - it's good news.

Bad news is high inflation and greater violence, less security in the streets.

However we lack a stable mechanism for guiding the distribution of this wealth.

On the one hand, we have the capitalist solution which provides to each what they earn through their work and invested savings. On the other hand we have the communist solution which provides to each what they "need" (as determined by some tyrant who apparently needs more ;).)

On either hand, we have the far more powerful central governments and large corporations, made possible by the awesome advances in various technologies over the last century or two. As we all know, power corrupts.

The combination of the presence of increasingly powerful corrupt means and the absence of sound means to guide the distribution of wealth leads us to the present crisis.
