Biden's remarks drew the ire of the travel industry. The U.S. Travel Association immediately released a statement countering Biden's remarks, and advised people to listen to medical experts.



"Americans should heed the advice of medical experts when determining how best to manage health concerns during the ongoing swine flu outbreak. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and countless other experts, swine flu should not discourage people from traveling to or within the United States," Roger Dow, president and chief executive of the association, said in the statement.

It's not mass hysteria. This is what people don't understand as the markets go up, up and away. Until we have a vaccine, this flu is public enemy #1.

It's not killing now, but it could quickly mutate - especially if people are spreading it everywhere - into something a lot more deadly.

The hope right now is that before it does mutate, we'll have a vaccine. Our ability to make these things has come along way since 1918.

Right now, I'm selling absolutely everything I have in the markets and I am quite bearish until this gets dealt with.

It's quite ridiculous to me that non-essential travel to and from Mexico is still being allowed and without testing. Given all of this, I don't see why Bidden's advice isn't reasonable considering the potential ramifications of having this continue to spread and mutate with no readily available vaccine.
