Notice too what's in the grocery bags in the poster: fresh fruits and veggies. Doesn't look much like a modern grocery bag for most middle Americans these days....
It seems to me that the "Buy war bonds" theme back then has been replaced by a combination of "Buy Treasury securities" and unrestrained government debt. And the government's motivation for people to reduce personal debt was to enable them to buy more war bonds to finance the government. Going off of Bretton Woods and revving up the printing press removed that requirement.
The overall message feels pretty much the same: "support government; they know what's best for you and for the country."
