  • Election Prediction - And the next four years?

I'm gonna bet it's not just an Obama victory, but a landslide. Dems get more than 350 seats in the house. And it's entirely possible that the DOW goes to 30K within this next five years, while precious metals underperform.

I have bet on an Obama victory ;)

I'm agnostic as to whether this will be worse than four more years of the republicans.

        Obama 51.8 McCain 46.7
        Obama 338 electoral

Obama will stop at nothing to get the oil needle out of Americas arm. Strong incentives for alternative energy, strong taxes on oil and coal. Big spending on Infrastructure, selective manufacturing (efficient cars), national health insurance(kind of). In 8 years, America will be transformed from old, corrupt, wasteful industries, to new productive industries. The trade deficit will drop, the budget deficit will explode, then drop on a steady path to becoming balanced. The change will be bigger than that of FDR's.

I remember what hopes we had for Blair in '97.

                    Next four years:

                    - More tax money thrown down the drains
                    - Protectionism
                    - Tax increases

I think a democratic president and congress is the worst thing right now for the US economy.

Looks like Indiana will go to Obama, so I'm a bit low. Popular vote looks like Obama 52.3 McCain 46.4

As a recovering low level campaign manager and political junkie, I still haven't been able to break my habit of analyzing political campaigns like others here analyze inflation, deflation, or capital flow.

I think the fiscal problems will be too great even for Obama. I always thought that whoever would win this election, would most likely be a one-termer. Of course having said this, I voted for Obama because I wanted a president that would offer hope, not fear.

Re: Election Prediction - And the next four years?

Obama will be a one term president.

                          What I see is:
Increase in government size and spending
                          Increasing deficit
Both wars will still be going on, I guarantee that!

This will be bad in itslef but if he and this congress go crazy ala FDR, with price controls, tax increases, trade restrictions etc. Get ready for 7-8 years of missery....

Wow, this crowd is beyond cynical. Where is your "shining city on the hill" and your "ask not what yer country can do for you" etc? ... iTulipers. What a jaundiced bunch of cynical, sourpuss, been there and done that gloomers ... Here we are with the JFK redux, hope for a new tomorrow, "change" and what have you - and look at the sour, disbelieving expressions all around. Tsk tsk.
