Re: Lewis Lapham: The American Ruling Class
Lapham is an American treasure and one of the most interesting and imposing people I have ever met.

Re: Lewis Lapham: The American Ruling Class
To me the most informative scene was with the hedge fund guy using his Bloomberg terminal to look up the top General Electric stock holding entities.
Barclays Global, State Street, Fidelity Management, Vanguard Group, The Capital Group, AXA, Northern Trust, Mellon Bank, JP Morgan Chase, Wellington Mgmt, Citigroup, TIAA, BoA, T. Rowe Price....
That's the top 14 that we get to see on screen.
Six of them are among the top 20 of entities that control trans-national wealth. Three are currently Fed Primary Dealers.
"General Electric" has partial ownership of MSNBC, total control of NBC, plus ten of the largest U.S. market NBC affiliates, Universal Studios, a few other smaller film studios, CNBC, Telemundo and several other cable channels.
What we need is for one of the Itulip members to look up on their Bloomberg terminal the true ownership of the (what is it?) five other big media companies and there you have it. I assume the big banks own all of them.Last edited by Slimprofits; August 30, 2011, 06:57 PM.
