A few nuggets that I hope somebody can enlighten for me:
1. A few weeks ago, FT ran a commentary on "Capital controls are needed" from some inhabitants of the economic ivory tower:
http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/bee0b4b2-e...0779fd2ac.html
I haven't seen any comments on that in the blogosphere. How would capital controls work out for gold? The PTB would have to include gold in capital controls, right?
2. Google Trends briefly tracked the search "Plunge Protection Team" for a few days in January. To the non-initiated, Google Trends tracks time and geographical trends in Google searches for the most popular key words. Rarer key words are not tracked. That means that the PPT briefly popped up above the radar and got tracked. Was there a news story on it that cause the pop-up? It can be used as a crude sentiment indicator. If market conditions deteriorate further, it might pop up again. Do you guys have any other ideas for Google Trends keywords that might work as sentiment indicators?
3. According to the blog below, the BullionVault news site was down, and it gave out a little more information than necessary during that down-time.
