    Re: What kind of Socialism?

I'm not sure I follow you. I run a small business. I pay taxes and health insurance for me and a dozen employees. I take the usual deductions. The code gives me a few perks but in the end I pay about 51% of my income as some form of tax. Then add sales tax. I keep hearing about how companies like mine aren't the real small business because most small businesses net less. Something like a larger depreciation on capital expenditures is a big help (I also hear that isn't true from some quarters). I really play by the rules, whatever they are. As an employer I take on responsibility (payroll taxes, social security, medicare, health insurance...blah blah blah). And lately all I hear are ideas about how to stick me with more of the burden. All of these ideas come from think tanks, law makers and econ professors who have never run a business. As an alternative I have a party that uses hate speech and fear mongering to rile up their base. A party that thew a war and doled out goodies galore to it's friends.

    Hopeless. Rangel vs. Bachman. Great!

What is this black market you speak of. Is it paying for an extra day of office cleaning with petty cash? How do i get to sell my house or stocks without an extra capital gain tax hidden as health care for the people. Why are my premiums going up and what I get in return going down year after year.

    Pathetic.

        Eric (or anyone else) -

A follow up on the point you raised above regarding the $1 trillion per year post credit bubble debt cut. Can someone explain to me the mechanics of how this is accomplished? Are we talking about cutting debt by a percentage of what is out there in the mortgage market, or ??? what?

I ask because it is being presented as an alternative - but I don't see how it could be accomplished without the gov't/IRS somehow mucking it all up.

As I understand it, and please correct me if I am wrong on any part; the idea is to write off a large part of the debt. A lot like changing the value of a national currency by lowering the exchange rate. You simply write it off.
