Just throwing an idea out here......and I appologize in advance if it's been proffered before, I couldn't find anything in a search.....but I was wondering if there would be any value in a real-life get together.

Considering how high the stakes are, I for one would seriously consider a long flight(or several from NZ) to meet, listen, and learn as much as I can.

Some day this wealth preservation strategy will end, hopefully followed by a renaissance of sustainable wealth creation based on a more solid foundation.

As far as 'net forums go...this would clearly be one of the best online communities I've had the good fortune to experience.

Would that translate effectively over into the real world?

Or would meeting in person be too weird for most?

Again...sorry if this has been covered before.......

Can't disagree that it could be fascinating meeting some of the community in person -

Would Lukester be as didactic in person as in the forum?

Would Metalman speak in lower case?

Will Bart and Zoog come wearing sandwichboards adorned with charts?

Shall we finally find out who Sapiens is or will he not reveal himself?

at the same time, some things are better left alone...

Here's hoping it will be tax deductible, and that I'll have some investment income to write it off against.

If I remember correctly EJ is speaking at a conference either on the Cape or the Vineyard over the first weekend of May. If not at a different conference for work that happens to be scheduled over the the same weekend, I'll buy the first round...

I never considered the "Deadhead" approach!

Maybe informal gatherings around a scheduled EJ speaking engagement?

I get up to the US 1-2 times a year...I'm up next in July, would be keen around then if anything were scheduled.

I wonder if we should print up some tie-dye shirts or develop a secret iTulip handshake? :p

let's all go to Vegas -- plenty of empty rooms there. in fact, plenty of
empty houses, storefronts, and everything else too!

I can't really travel much. But if anyone winds up in New York, I would meet for a drink.

Sandwichboards are so like last Depression... I've been dying to wear my new tinfoil frock with extra tinsel, ala the '20s flappers though...  ;)

Seriously - I'd probably show, depending on when & where.

I might even try and get away with wearing a Lukester or Finster name tag though...

                  Vegas. Definately Vegas.

I'd be in if it's within a week either end of my next trip to the US in late July.

I'm surprised no one's going for my "dead head" iTulip tie-die t-shirt idea! :p

Does EJ have a listed schedule of speaking engagements for 2009?

I would be in if it was in the Boston area and there was a bit of lead time.

                        I'll wear the Bart tag...

Oh wait, I don't know jack, is speaking on economics and the inner workings of the Fed essential?

REALLISTICALLY, such a meetup should be built around the lead-in or tail out of some other big event like "The Money Show" or similar...

It would offer a front row centre seat to the implosion....we could do a field trip walking the strip to view the carnage in real time....

I think it's safe to say we could also get a bloody good deal on heavily discounted accommodation
