  • has iTulip started using SiteMeter to track users?

Suddenly today, I am repeatedly getting an annoying pop-up as I browse iTulip. The message (reportedly from Windows Security) is:

"Connecting to tracking.sitemeter.com." and it provides user input boxes, asking for my user name and password, plus two buttons: "OK" and "Cancel". Of course I hit Cancel, but what the heck is going on? Have I picked up a virus?

I just fired up a new macbook pro this morning and got the same thing, thinking I had just bought a computer with a virus on it!

Sorry you've had the same problem but glad to hear it may be caused by the site and not my computer...

Same. I thought it was the hotel I'm staying in. What is SiteMeter?

I had it once on one of my machines, although I don't remember which one, but only that one time.

We've been using sitemeter since January 21, 1999. They just added some obnoxious new feature to it. We'll look into it and see if we can't shut it off. If not, we'll stop using it.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks for letting us know.
          Ed.

Filed a support ticket with sitemeter. They responded with a fix right away. Let me know if you're still having issues.

I think it's fixed -- haven't seen it today. Thanks!

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...ddon/noscript/ works like a charm, too.

That sitemeter pop-up is gone, but now I get the following pop-up:

A username and password are being requested by http://sub1.economagic.com. The site says: "Economagic Subscriber Level One Login"
