I was wondering what the caption said on your avatar. Bit hard to read at thumbnail size.

I'm guessing you identify with the guy in the suit? ;)

I need to learn to be more subtle...

But seriously, the genius of an artist comes through when it invokes a subtle and visceral reaction in the observer; and yes, I am a predator who tries not to be prey.

Also relevant here - Financial crisis a distraction, says Nobel winner

The global financial crisis is distracting attention from other pressing issues such as high food and energy prices, and environmental damage, Nobel peace laureate Muhammad Yunus told AFP Wednesday.

The Bangladeshi economist warned that not addressing those other issues would lead to a "much bigger crisis ahead" that would have political and financial implications.

"What we see as a financial crisis is a part of many more crises, which are going on simultaneously in 2008," Yunus said in an interview while attending a summit of business leaders in London.

"You remember the food crisis? It's still on, it didn't disappear. Simply, this (financial crisis) became much more pressing and everybody is paying attention."

He continued: "Then we have the energy crisis, it's still there... And then the environmental crisis, we have not solved anything about the environmental crisis."

Yunus, who along with his Grameen Bank won the Nobel peace award in 2006 for efforts to lift people out of extreme poverty by giving them small loans, said that any solution had to "address simultaneously all these four" crises.

"It's a framework problem: we have to have a framework which can address these issues about the lifestyle, about food production, technology, pricing, globalisation, tariffs."

            There is a third way.

I don't want to put words in your mouth, much less give you advice, but I remember another post of yours where I thought you said, in essence, that after someone does whatever conquering they are going to do, they realize they've lost their soul.

If you've got the power to choose, why not be a steward instead of a predator? You can still live pretty well, but you get to sleep at night.

I bet these guys make bank, for example:

            http://www.vestergaard-frandsen.com/lifestraw.htm

but they're probably not going to get visited by three ghosts on Christmas Eve, or have people trying to figure out what the hell "Rosebud" means when they mutter it on their deathbed.

But then you know all this.

I prefer advocating total anarchist revolution... a bit more fun, you know?
It's Economics vs Thermodynamics. Thermodynamics wins.

If Lifestraw makes bank, it is because rich 1st worlders buy it in droves for their camping trips.

I doubt even the purported $2 cost is all that affordable for someone already on the edge of starvation.

I doubt their business model is based on selling directly to starving 3rd worlders. It's not like they're going to set up a chain of Lifestraw boutiques across Sub-Saharan Africa. I'm pretty sure they won't sell directly to 1st worlders, either, as I was looking at it for my camping trips but couldn't find a way to purchase it.

More likely, they're aiming at selling to large charitable organizations or other do-gooder groups that can buy in large quantities and distribute en masse to starving 3rd worlders.

What I need to do is find a large charitable organization that will distribute to thirsty 1st worlders.
