e-book worth the read. If you are an idiot, save your time for something else, as this may cause you to stop being an idiot ( I won't hold my breath, though).

Thanks Sapiens - good read but a bit overly broad and simplified (especially in the case of historical discourse) for my liking to be honest - but some good points made in the book

This is one of the most pertinent in my opinion as to the problems society as a whole faces today.

    The study of logic (noncontradiction)
is completely absent from almost all state educational
courses and shows up in college only as an elective. Basic ironies and
self-contradictions are never noticed by most people.
When logic is gone, people tend to form opinions based upon emotion
and their identification with famous persons and groups. This is
extremely dangerous. The worst actions of history have been performed
by groups of people who chose not to think and to ignore reality. This
affects the West in myriad ways – making every complex interaction
between human minds more difficult, more problematic, and more
    frustrating.
Of special danger is that a lack of logic removes restrictions upon
    political leaders, especially “charismatic” ones.
Below is a link to a good effort to address the problem above, for any one interested.

Thanks Sapiens, interesting read. In googling the author I found this brief article by him:

I agree, but I don't think it's meant to be a complete and detailed history book. I think it's meant to build a framework for people to view history through.

Sure - however he draws consulsions and makes assertions from the outline he draws, some of these assertions I would disagree with based on my limited knowledge of the topic at hand and I suppose I would like to have a more detailed perspective / analysis from the author.
