More like the whole OECD is headed for a sudden stop... And I'm not sure we down here in Mexico can avoid it...

I have been thinking for some time that maybe just maybe the Fed would force capital to reach for yield overseas in EM countries bidding up their assets artificially and then when they pulled QE away all that capital would rush back into the US causing another "Asian Financial Crisis" giving the Fed the political and economic cover in late 2014/early2015 to raise rates.

If the stock market takes a big hit from this though, I don't see how they will be able to use this as cover to tighten

The US stock market has shown repeatedly that what happens in EM countries doesnt cause it to go down. The worst of which was the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997/98 and the US stock market blew through that to new highs.

In 2008 chinese red chips started getting whacked before the spy did. Look at the long term chart of FXI or EEM vs SPY. Both declining percipitously before SPY crashed, around sept/oct of 2008. Now I'm not sure if E/M caused SPY to go down, but it did lead the plunge. The difference between 97 and 2008 might be that E/M has grown in proportion to the US economy since 97.

why would an asian financial crisis give cover to the fed raising rates? in an asian financial crisis the dollar is moving sharply higher while the global economy is slowing. this is an excuse to raise rates?

verdo, we have decided to stay with the vB platform, both the front end (content management) and the back end, after a diversion into vb Drupal and wordpress land but user registration and spam filtering db synch issues overwhelmed us. We are stuck with vB's not-so-bril search capabilities. They are reportedly betting in V5. It's still too new and buggy for us to upgrade to yet, tho.

Best way to search the iTulip archives is to use google as follows:

site:itulip.com keyword1 keyword2 keyword3

We will code this into the new site.

can help with webby databases although more background in business intelligence. have access to some big boy toys too to crunch lots of data and do so quickly, netezza and spss for structured data.
entrepreneurial buddy who is good with photo/music/video may have some interest too although perhaps not the time, depending on the need...
