  • Cramer iTulip Lawsuit Threat Video

Below is a video we created that contains clips of Cramer shilling Wall Street crap just like the video seen on Jon Stewart's The Daily Show recent video. The difference is that our video was created and shown in July 2007 before the market crashed when it actually did viewers some good, and the TheStreet.com's lawyers threatened to sue us because it mattered. Now that the market for the products he was selling is dead Cramer is a has-been, so who cares?

We figure TheStreet.com probably doesn't care anymore, so we've resurrected the illicit video for your viewing pleasure.

Theresa F. Santos' disingenuous depiction of this being a case of "unscrupulous commercial exploitation" by iTulip was either A) a maggoty bean-counter's-eye-view of the matter (who is better at "driving web traffic" and other such dreary obsessions), or B) she knows better, and her claim this was all staged "for iTulip's profit" is the flim-flam typical of a glib legal counsel which the likes of the "Cramer franchise" probably attracts like flies. Either way, her claim that what iTulip was pursuing was "commercial exploitation of Cramer's well known name" sounds just like the sort of reflexive logic which is a natural fit for Mr. Cramer - their minds probably travel uneasily along channels which don't have an immediately remunerative angle.

          Thanks for the video.

The letter looks like a standard form letter sent to anyone who posts a Cramer clip on YouTube. I just did a search for Cramer on YouTube which returned more than 10,000 videos -- something tells me they aren't too serious about their enforcement efforts, particularly when YouTube will remove them in bulk if the copyright owner just makes a DMCA complaint.

I've seen him out at dinner in New York. He looks pretty tense in real life. He doesn't have that serene Madoff face. I think he just enjoys being the clown and it makes him rich and famous. To be a clown he has to keep shouting stuff . Getting advice from television should seem pretty stupid to begin with. It's almost as crazy as trusting a bunch of strangers with aliases on the Net.

Did anyone have a look at this video of Cramer admitting to market manipulation in his former life as a hedge fund trader? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/0..._n_173824.html

Since it was on a liberal blog I have to think the Stewart folks have picked it up. Maybe they're saving it for when Cramer comes on Stewart's show this evening. Let's hope.

Ed. that was awesome. Thanks for bringing this back (despite that - well - less than enticing letter from the Street.com).
