I think THIS will wake up a few people, and the Dow had such a good run as well.

Re: Merrill V Bearstearns !!!!!!
As anyone reading the links can see, the name of the fund that is in trouble is "High-Grade Structured Credit Strategies Enhanced Leverage Fund."
With a name like that, I guess one would not be expecting it to be "the second blowup in recent months of a hedge fund that made dicey bets on the market for risky home loans, known as subprime mortgages."
Is it clear to anyone just how big this fund is (was), and I wonder who were the parties that would have bought into it?
Edit: I found the answer to the second question. It is "geared to sophisticated investors." That reminds me of Kipling's warning: "don't look too good nor talk too wise." I guess that would fit in with at least the appearance of "sophistication."Last edited by Jim Nickerson; June 17, 2007, 12:19 PM.Jim 69 y/o

Re: Merrill V Bearstearns !!!!!!
Jim, what you must remember is there was a time when Wall St types would have had a quick drink and sorted this like "Gentilmen". We would NEVER of heard of it.
The Fact that its SUCH a bust in FULL DAY light means a lot of toxic waste is about to hit the press. The MSM will wake up and as soon as they feel they put enough time/distance between feeeding you "Flip that House" Etc, the flood of bad press will come.
I say that we got to Oct to build that Ark!.............Then the Flood waters will come!
