  • Timmy's Time for Truth Telling

    http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...d=av_bCYnKeIUk

Bloomberg has won its Freedom of Information lawsuit. Federal Judge says Federal Reserve must disclose who got what emergency loans, based on what collateral.

Does anybody believe it will happen?

How quickly will they bury the real data in a million pounds of crap paper?

How quickly will they get a Supreme Court order to bypass the Federal Court ruling?

Will they evoke National Security? Executive Privilage? Lawyer-client privilage? Any other guesses?

It will be interesting to see how they avoid the chopping block.

Here is more on the same subject. http://www.itulip.com/forums/showthr...252#post118252

Glenn, it may appear I am "jumping" on you personally, but I am not; however, the title you chose for opening this thread is IMO a bullshit title as are so many others that are used to open threads here.

Freaking titles should be informative of the content of the new thread, and not something the poster thinks may be cute or clever.

EDIT: On the other hand maybe I am wrong. "It is intended to be used for informational and entertainment purposes only." is from the bottom of the Forums Home page regarding the website, so maybe all these clever titles are clearly fulliing the scope in iTulip with regard to the "entertainment purpose." I truly find poor titling to be useless and not infrequently time consuming to click on them to see what the "secret" may be.

I thought the title had something to do with Tim Geithner, but the linked Bloomberg article is about the Fed having to potentially disclose information...and he doesn't work for the Fed any more...

Yeah I was wondering about that too.

What does Timmy have to do with the Federal Reserve nowadays?

There should be a "Lame Titles" forum where all the terribly titled posts go until the authors correct them.

The Fed’s Board of Governors asked Manhattan Chief U.S. District Judge Loretta Preska to delay enforcement of her Aug. 24 decision that the identities of borrowers in 11 lending programs be made public by Aug. 31. The central bank wanted Preska to stay her order until the U.S. Court of Appeals in New York can hear the case.

The Fed’s “ability to effectively manage the current, and any future, financial crisis” would be impaired, according to the Fed’s motion for a stay. It said “significant harms” could befall the U.S. economy as well.

Preska told the Fed they must file for an emergency appeal within three days of receiving permission with an ultimate deadline of Sept 30. The judge left it up to the Court of Appeals to decide whether to continue staying her order to disclose once the appeal is under way.
