  • Firearms companies refusing to sell to the government

Some good companies on the list. Now if only the major firearms and ammo makers like Colt, S&W, Ruger, Winchester and Remington would jump on this bandwagon:

Firearms Companies Restricting Sales to GOVERNMENT Agencies in Areas that Restrict Gun Rights

A growing number of firearm and firearm-related companies have stated they will no longer sell items to states, counties, cities and municipalities that restrict their citizens' rights to own them.

According to The Police Loophole, 34 companies have joined in publicly stating that governments who seek to restrict 2nd Amendment rights will themselves be restricted from purchasing the items they seek to limit or ban.

Extreme Firepower Inc., located in Inwood, WV has had a longstanding policy that states:

"The Federal Government and several states have enacted gun control laws that restrict the public from owning and possessing certain types of firearms...If a product that we manufacture is not legal for a private citizen to own in a jurisdiction, we will not sell that product to a law-enforcement agency in that jurisdiction."

York Arms, located in Buxton, ME released a statement following new legislation in New York:

"Based on the recent legislation in New York, we are prohibited from selling rifles and receivers to residents of New York. We have chosen to extend that prohibition to all governmental agencies associated with or located within New York."

Quality Arms, located in Rigby, ID writes on their website, "elected officials have their own agenda to circumnavigate the truth and destroy the constitution of the United States."

The site states: "Quality Arms Idaho will not supply and firearm or product, manufactured by us, or any other company nor will we warranty, repair, alter, or modify and firearm owned by any State, County or Municipality who infringes on the right of its citizens to bear arms under the 2nd Amendment."

    Bravo Company USA states:

"The people at Bravo Company USA and BCM support responsible private individuals having access to the same tools of civilian Law Enforcement to affect the same ends...As such Bravo Company's policy is that law enforcement officials and departments will be restricted to the same type of products available to responsible private individuals of that same city or state."

Be kinder than necessary because everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

this sounds like pr and bs to me. i question whether these companies ever sold anything in the past to the entities they are now "forbidding" their products to. when glock and s&w sign on, i'll be impressed.

Has there been in recent times a better salesman for the gun industry than Obama? (more precisely, the Obama mythology)

They myth is becoming reality in Colorado.

Don't discount the value of PR. PR is all the gun haters ever had, their reality is repeated failure, but it doesn't stop them.

Colorado's "Universal Background Check" is a Trojan Horse, it has all kinds of hidden unintended consequences like increased pollution and traffic on the roads and it discriminates against gays.

yeah but - to paraphrase: if you keep repeating failure long enuf, it becomes the truth

people like krugman and others in the lamestream media are masters at it...
for confirmation, just look at the results of the recent election.

Well I got a notice the other day from a seller I often use. Many do sell to local law enforcement, but whether they do or not in those particular states, I have no idea. I tend to think its a legit protest. Some of these rules in some states will put gun shops out of business. I think some can see the writing on the wall and want to make a stand before its too late, for whatever its worth.

Having watched law enforcement officers "qualify" on several occasions I would say that restricting their ability to purchase firearms could contribute immeasurably to gun safety.

Many people have a borderline dangerous perception that because people put on uniforms(law enforcement or military) that they are omnipotent or even competent.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

The vast majority of law enforcement and military personnel may qualify only once annually with their issue firearm(s).

It is typically only a very small percentage of total uniformed personnel who are able to train to a high standard, that must be regularly maintained, or risk losing it due to it's perishable nature.

The most relevant expression I can think of is:

Amateurs train until they get it right.

Professionals train until they never get it wrong.

The world is chocker full of amateurs.

The most egregious example in recent years would be the front line police in Mumbai 2008.

The most recent example of alleged misuse of firearms and rules of engagement by law enforcement would be police searching for Christopher Dorner.

Police were looking for a gray Nissan Titan driven by a black man(Dorner) and they opened fire on a light blue Toyota Tacoma driven by 2 hispanic females. LAPD have yet to disclose how many rounds their officers discharged, allegedly without any warning to the occupants.

Shortly after Torrance police officers opened fire on a black Honda Ridgeline driven by a white male after a police car allegedly rammed the driver's vehicle intentionally.

I"m a BIG supporter of law enforcement, military and interested civilian personnel receiving appropriate and regular firearms training.

I blame Hollywood for making people believe police and the military are super ninjas, when in reality they can often times be more like Barney Fife than Walker Texas Ranger.

                  +1
and for most of the rest of the long list of social ills that have developed within the past generation or so (coinciding, not incidently, with the billions of dollars rise of ultra-violent video games, along with the 'heavymetal/death rock' phenom)

and - of course - they're 'desparate for taxbreaks' over there in hollywierd - so now we're expected to subsidize them too - even more than we already are?

couldnt come up with a better example (like say.. me brutha's kid's band in nyc ;)

but this is typical of 'their sound' - and tell me this wouldnt make some drug/booze-addled young brain snap
(never mind MINE, esp when over on maui, at about 0400, when one of the buggahs wakes me up...
and THEN theres the 'music' - such as this this little ditty )

and yes, i'm getting older and krankier....
                  altho....
must admit that poppin a (pelletgun) cap into the backside of one of em and watchin the feathers fly is quite entertaining, as they go SQUAAAAAWK'n down the road

As am I, and, to be fair, I've met the occasional officer who is exceptionally skilled. It is the others I find disconcerting
