Re: The British are in DEEP trouble!

Maybe if the govn't would have told the greenies ( the solar panel nuts, the windmill nuts, the ethanol nuts, and the cut-back everything and go live in caves- nuts ) to all get lost, maybe just maybe the UK might have a surplus.......

More cheap energy from atomic, hydro-dams, clean coal, and natural-gas would speed-up the economy. Money would turn-over faster. The economy would grow..... So, a stronger/larger/faster and more robust economy would mean, guess what: more taxes collected to pay-down the deficit.

And shrinking deficits on their way to retirement would mean, a larger, and more robust economy in the UK.

But the United Kingdom fell in-love with Greenpeace, the Sierra Club, Save the Whales, Save the Dolphins, the World Wildlife Federation, Earth First, and all of the rest of the "sustainability" bunch. So, here the UK is now: drowning in debt and requiring another new tax. A familiar path, no?

One of the big tragedies: The entire UK has no vision for the future except "sustainability". It's the same sad outcome in Canada too, and also in America. The so-called, "progressive" parties on the left are no longer progressive; they are green.

I am not a supply-side economist, but really, a stronger and larger economy would generate more tax revenue. And more tax-revenue would retire the annual deficit and eventually retire the entire national-debt.

A stronger and larger social-safety net could be passed with budget surpluses and no national-debt. These budget surpluses could happen by growing the economy with cheap and abundant energy. The first goal of the progressive parties would be to drive-down the entire cost-of-living with cheap and abundant energy..... And this approach would mean telling the greenies, rather bluntly, to get lost.
